Client Code of Conduct
At the Central Okanagan Food Bank, we believe in Respect and Dignity for All. Just as we promise to treat you with dignity, our team members and volunteers have the right to be treated with respect in their workplace.
To maintain a safe and respectful environment, the following behaviors will not be tolerated:
- Use of drugs and/or alcohol
- Smoking on the property
- Inappropriate language, including swearing or offensive remarks
- Damage to property
- Taking food or items that have not been provided by distribution staff
- Physical altercations or violent behavior
- Disruptive or abusive conduct
- Actions that negatively affect the well-being of volunteers, staff, or other clients
Our Approach to These Standards
We understand that everyone has bad days, and no one is perfect. Our goal is always to support you, not to exclude you. However, to keep our space safe for everyone COFB staff may enact one or more of the following:
Warnings
If a standard is not met, we will provide a warning and a conversation to resolve the issue.
Service Holds or Termination
Repeated offenses after warnings may lead to a temporary hold or termination of services.
Safety Protocols
Immediate action may be taken in cases of severe safety risks or violence.
